Sam Taylor-Johnson guided the first movie, on which Dornan eventually authorized on as the man lead. As Johnson remembered, "We'd do the takes of the movie that Erika wanted to earn, and after that we would certainly do the takes of the movie that we wanted to earn. Of course I would not. I'd be crazy."
"Sam didn't return to direct after the first movie, and, as a women, she had brought a softer point of view. James Foley came on direct, and he's a fascinating guy. It was various doing those bizarre points with a guy behind the video cam. Simply a various power," she said.
"There are points that I still cannot say because I do not want to hurt anyone's profession and I do not want to damage anybody's reputation, but both Jamie and I were treated truly well," included Johnson. "Erika is an extremely nice lady, and she was constantly type to me and I am thankful she wanted me to remain in those movies."
